Well, I'm back to say I had a fantastic holiday Grin! Although I did not get to ride as much as I wanted to, I did have the best ride ever. My brother and I took a two hour trail (actually a Jeep track) over the hills on our friends large 2800ha farm. Beleive me, there is nothing like cantering over flat Free State hills, past herds of big Bonsmaras that stare at you stupidly, with the wind blowing back your hair and the birds singing to you as the sun peeks round a small cloud in the bright blue sky. It was awesome!
I rode an obiedient Appaloose mare with the smoothest trot ever while my brother was paired up with a stubborn, disobedient Appie stallion. It took him a while to get the horse moving but once he did he wouldn't stop.
Apart from riding, I also swam and fished in the dam on the farm. I didn't have too much luck with the fish (only one bass caught).

Welcome back, oh I wish I could have joined you on that ride, sound fabulous.

Can't remember when last I had a nice long decent canter. My only riding partner I have at the moment don't want to canter at all, too scared. And riding out alone or just cantering in circles in the arena is not that much fun.

Yes, I agree. Cantering with company is fun. But I don't get to canter a lot since I don't have my own horse. One day, hopefully I'll own one. Keeping a horse isn't cheap though, and I don't think I'll own one anytime in the near future. I think I'll just have to sit and dream for now........
