I have many horsey books, but there are one or two (or three) favourites!
I love reading the Monty Roberts books.  He tells us about his horses and dealing with them and what I like the most is that he shows you how to translate this method into using it with people in general.

A book that is nice for ideas about what to do when you are in the arena, or even out, is The Right Track by Sarah Venamore.  It is full of ideas for keeping you busy while riding.

Another favourite is Perfect Confidence by Kelly Marks.  This book helps you gain confidence not only with horses but also in your non-horsey life.

Then I refer to Pat Parelli's Natural Horsemanship quite often.  I have used some of the methods in this book with very good results.

We need books to remind and refresh our memories of things that we already know because a lot of it is common sense.

"The Right Track" sounds like a nice book. I'm going to see if my library has it otherwise I'll try and buy it. Thanks for telling me about the books.

If you don't get the books at the library, have a look at Kalahari.net. That where I bought them.  You can also try Horse Books Unlimited.

I found the book on Kalahari.net for R300. I know that is not really expensive but I think I'll look in  the Durban libraries before I buy it. I'm saving up for a new pair of riding boots. Know any nice brand?

The libraries in our area stock very few horsey books.  I refer back to the two I mentioned very often.
As for boots, well, there are many to choose from.  At the moment I am using the PVC boots. They wear well and I love the fact that they are waterproof.
