I really enjoy making horse biscuits for Dynamite, Bree and the ponies. Anyone got a nice and healthy recipe I can try out?

This is the treat recipe I usauly use. It's quick and the horses love it.Ingredients

One cup rolled oats
1/4 cup water
A pinch of honey
A pinch of smooth peanut butter
1/4 cup of your horse's favorite grain
1 small carrot
Directions

Put the rolled oats in the bowl and add the water.
Add a pinch of honey and smooth peanut butter.
Add your horse's favorite grain and stir. If it is not sticking add more honey.
Cut up 1 small baby carrot. Roll the carrot pieces in the mixture to make little balls (not too small though).
Put the carrot balls in the refrigerator to harden then serve.

I have a selection of horsy treats!  Too much to put onto the site.  If you would like I could email it to you. Ask the webmaster to forward your email address to me.

Here are some recipes to try out so long.

NO BAKE HORSE TREATS

1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup oats
1 cup sweet feed

Pour molasses and water into a pot and turn on medium heat. Stir continuously until it starts to bubble but not boil. After it bubbles, turn the heat on low. Stir in the flour completely before adding and stirring in the oats. Take off heat and quickly stir in the sweet feed. Place on non stick cookie sheet or waxed paper. It should be the consistency of cookie dough. Let cool and roll into balls to feed to your horse.

CARROT HORSE COOKIES

2 cups feed (sweet or pellets)
2 cups rolled oats
2 cups shredded carrots or apples
1 1/2 cups raisin bran cereal
1 cup molasses
1/4 cup brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets. Combine all ingredients and drop small spoonfuls on sheet. If mixture isn't clumping, add water and try again. Cookies don't rise, so place as many on a sheet as possible. Bake 1 hour, turn off oven and let cookies sit for another hour before removing from sheet.
These cookies are hard, numerous, and they won't go bad any time soon. You may want to make a half size recipe. This is an all day project, but you will have treats for months.

HORSE OR HUMAN TREATS

1 cup oatmeal
1 cup flour
1/2 cup wheat germ oil
1 cup water
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 apple, peeled
2 large carrots, finely chopped
2/3 cup dark molasses
10 peppermints, crushed

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl, and bake until crispy and dry.

Happy bakings!
