Helooo there everyone! Smiley I am so glad to be a part of a horse loving community! I have been absolutely crazy about horses since I can remember! I am a 14 year old girl (I turn 15 this year) and my parents may soon let me take riding lessons, something I have been wanting to do all my life! I do not currently own a horse, although I live on a fairly large farm here in KZN. I am trying to get enough money together so I can be able to afford buying, and of course, keeping a horse. I do home-schooling and get to spend a lot of time with my pets (a dog, a cat, a rabbit and 4 mice) at home. I love gathering all kinds of info on pets and horses, and so you will find me on the internet a lot, busy with animal stuff Grin I am especially interested in horse training and show jumping. Well, thats me! See you around  Wink

Hi there horse loving girl,

Welcome to the forum.

As you can probably see, not many active members on the forum, yet. But I'm always around and enjoy chatting to other horse loving people.

Happy to hear that you'll soon be able to have riding lessons. I'm assuming you haven't ridden before, or at least not anything faster than a walk. Also glad you waited till now, I've seen too many kids starting too young and then they can't manage their ponies and end up disliking or even hating horses.

If I may give you some advice. Don't be in too much of a hurry to get your own horse. You are still young and there are still plenty of time for you to own a horse. Owning a horse is not that easy, horses are very clever and they easily outsmart their owners if they don't know what they are doing. What I'd suggest is that you first use your money to get lessons and learn as much as you can about horses. Ask your local riding school if you can't help out with feeding and cleaning stables and get to know as many horses as you can, you don't have to ride them, just get to know them. That way you'll have a better idea of what sort of horse will be your ideal partner. And once you do meet that perfect horse, you'll be happy that you waited and it will be well worth it.

Anyway, getting late. Let me know how your first riding lesson goes.

Hi
i too am a horse loving girl...much older but have been riding horses since I was 6.
I currently own 2. A 5year old appaloos(had him since he was 6 months old) and my retired 22year old thorobred which I have had since he was 5.
At present we are being retricted with horse movement around PE, because of the AHS outbreak.
This is very worrying time for all,but like everyone I can't imagine my life without my "boys",they are so used to me spraying them with fly spray 2X aday they don't even need halters anymore....the local dealers in fly spray can bearly keep up with us all.
I planned on taking my baby to the Bathurst Show this week but the horse section has been cancelled in the best interests of the horses ...OK I tried to put an exclaimation mark here and a happy face..no luck to bad, just shows the age thing.
well my work friend Michelle, and I joined to chat because well we just like horses, thats enough until I figger out how to do more stuff on this site. Its just as bad as face book.

Hi Tracy Andrews

Welcome to the forum.

I can see why the smileys can be confusing. When you click on one at the top a set of characters are inserted into the text you are typing. Here are some examples:

Code:
:) = Smile
 ;) = Wink
 :D = Cheesy...

Once the message is posted the system will display these sets as smiley images. If you want to make sure the text look the way you want it to look, click on preview and your message will appear at the top of the page.

Other things like bold, center, etc work with tags. A tag is placed in square brackets and there is always a start tag and an end tag. Here is an example.

Code:

This is [b]bold[/b] and this is [u]underlined[/u].

Will look like this:  This is bold and this is underlined.

Getting to old for technology, perhaps, but to old to enjoy horses, never  Roll Eyes Right?

Once again welcome to the forum, enjoy and have fun.

PS. AHS is such an important subject, I think I'm going to start a new topic on that.

Hi everyone!  I am am also from PE and yes we are all very frustrated with this AHS situation.  I am also a horsey girl and I am appaloosa crazy.  I have 3 appy's, 1 appy cross, 1 welshy and 2 welsh cross's.  I never planned on having so many horses and ponies, it just happened.  If I could take all the unwanted home I would!  Roll Eyes

Hi All,

I am from Riversdale, big horse country, and I am in the process of buying my first Boerperd (or 2). It has been a childhood dream to own my own horse and since I moved to Riversdale from George everything has fallen into place. I have a very good friend who is also a horsey person who is also now searching for her first horse (she has her heart set on a Arab). I would love to see all the forum members post pictures with their horses! (that is why I think the bragging page is wonderful, even if we are not into sport we can still brag with our boys and girls). Love this forum, hope many more people join!!
